Are commodity data centers the next big thing? There are several challenges yet to be overcome: how to manage new types of data centers, difficulty of configuring open-source tools, lack of people to handle new centers, and the impact to business. Despite these challenges, evidence points to commodity data centers becoming bigger due to improvements in software, hardware, ability to automate, and being able to get both pre-made and custom-made data centers or fuse standard and customized pieces together. New data centers will be powerful and provide more options for organizations.
